The holiday season is a time that many people overindulge—and not just in food! Bottles are poppin, and the booze is flowin! And while we don’t want to be buzzkills, the truth is that alcohol can derail a healthy lifestyle faster than you can slam a shot.
In fact, one of the most common questions we get from clients is, “I don’t have to give up drinking do I?”
Their reluctance isn’t surprising—especially in light of the recent trend in the health and fitness industry of post class pours. Wine Down Wednesdays, Bar at the Barre, Champs for Champs…..it’s sometimes difficult to distinguish the health club from the nightclub. To me, indulging in a sugary, dehydrating, potentially addictive substance with little if any nutritional value right after you’ve gotten your sweat on is the equivalent of covering your face in heavy makeup moments after getting a deep, pore cleansing facial—it doesn’t make sense. Not to mention that nothing can cause you to skip that morning workout faster than a hangover.
