The only day of the week that I have time to grocery shop is on Sundays, along with everyone else in the city. I'm really pumped about cooking all of these new 'Whole30' recipes but I'm not crazy about the long check-out lines and trying to read ingredients in the middle of a congested isle.
I decided to go out on a limb and try the delivery services 'Instacart', no one I know has tried it so I had no idea what to expect. Still sitting in bed, I logged onto their website, found ALL the ingredients I needed and checked out in under 15 minutes---I was so excited!
I got out of bed and took a yoga class, got fitted for my sister's wedding and when I got home I received a txt that my groceries would be delivered in 30 minutes, perfect timing! You can select the time period you want your order to arrive, I chose 1-2 PM and they were right on time at 1:30. I received a total of two txt messages, one when they started shopping and another when they were on their way to my house. They will also txt you if they can't find one of your items, you can either pass on it or choose an alternative. There is a small convenience charge that is based off of your total order, mine was $70 and the convince charge was $7, so about 10%. However, Instacart waives the delivery charge for your first order, so you have nothing to lose!
Instacart is not available everywhere but it is quickly expanding. It wasn't available for me late last year, but two months later it reached my zip code. You can choose from major retailers like HEB & Central Market, most of their items are available online including their company brands.
For someone who is always on the go or finds grocery shopping stressful, this is a great solution. They also have an app. for your phone incase you're not around your laptop. I give my experience a 5 out of 5, I can’t wait to try it again next weekend!
