When it comes to Kale, I have a love/hate relationship. I love kale salads (especially Central Market’s Kale, Pepita, and Cranberry Salad with Chicken), but I hate kale chips. I love kale juices, but I hate it in smoothies--until now. The “Flat-Belly Smoothie” recipe from www.popsugar.com has changed the way I think about adding the green stuff to my favorite fruity beverages.
I’ll admit I only tried it because of the name—who doesn’t want a flatter belly right?! But the taste got me hooked! The combination of bloat banishing ingredients like pineapple and blueberries is delicious, and there’s no “earthy” flavor that kale can sometimes leave behind. You get a decent dose of calcium and protein from the yogurt, a little “good fat” from the almond butter, and of course the fiber found in kale—plus it comes in at just 300 calories per serving! Super easy to whip up in the blender, it’s become my new morning “make and take.” Try it and let us know what you think☺
3 oz vanilla nonfat Greek yogurt
1 tbsp almond butter
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup kale
3/4 cup water
Blend and enjoy!
